Pictorymag.com was an online photo magazine created by Laura Brunow in 2009 after her experience leading a print publication. It invited people from around the world to submit photos and short stories based on monthly themes. Laura curated these submissions to create beautiful, story-driven collections that combined photography and personal storytelling.

The site focused on design, editing, and a slow, thoughtful reading experience that made digital storytelling feel personal and timeless. With around 100,000 monthly visitors and support from major partners like NPR and Levi’s, Pictory became a respected example of how thoughtful visuals and human stories could thrive on the web.

Now Pictorymag.com is a free online picture to story generator and magazine that documents our lives, love, and more.

I’m Emma, I love to use my phone to take photos to record life. A fleeting sunset, a quiet moment with a cup of coffee, or the way light filters through a window. These are the stories I capture.

I wanted to use Pictory Magazine to share my passion for blending pictures and words into meaningful narratives. The name “Pictory” reflects our mission: combining “pictures” and “storytelling” to create a unique reading experience.

Some of the stories are inspirational; some are unique; others are common stories you may have read somewhere. All of them celebrate the photograph.

At Pictory Magazine, we believe a single photo can inspire a story, and a few words can make a picture shine. Our content celebrates the beauty of everyday moments, travel adventures, personal reflections, and creative ideas, all brought to life with stunning visuals.
